House Roll Call No. 364
114th Congress, 2nd Session

Failed: 177-245 (see complete tally)

On July 6, 2016, the House rejected (177-245) an amendment from Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) to strike a policy rider that restricts abortion coverage in H.R. 5485, the FY 2017 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill. The Grayson amendment would have removed a harmful policy rider that prohibits insurance coverage of abortion – except in the narrow circumstances of life endangerment, rape, and incest – for federal employees and their families through the Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) program. The ACLU supported this amendment because it would have helped to ensure that a woman who receives health care through the FEHB program has the coverage she needs to make the personal medical decisions that are best for herself and her family.
