House Roll Call No. 292
112nd Congress, 1st Session

Passed: 251-175 (see complete tally)

On May 4, 2011, the House passed, by a vote of 251-175, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act (H.R. 3), introduced by Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.).  The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act would permanently deny abortion care to women who rely on the government for their health care and manipulate the tax code so as to penalize small businesses who provide comprehensive health care coverage.  The ACLU opposed the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act because it would further entrench discriminatory laws that deny abortion care to women enrolled in Medicaid and other federal health care programs and extend these unjust prohibitions into the private sector.  (112th Congress, First Session, Roll Call Vote No. 292)
