Senate Roll Call No. 236
114th Congress, 1st Session

Rejected: 52-45 (see complete tally)

On July 14, 2015, the Senate failed to adopt due to a 60 vote threshold (52-45) S. Amdt. 2093, the Student Non-Discrimination Act (SNDA), offered by Senator Al Franken (D-MN) as an amendment to the Every Child Achieves Act (S. 1177) - the Senate’s version of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act reauthorization.  The ACLU supported the amendment because it would have barred discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in all public K-12 schools.
