Action Alert
Hands off our healthcare: don't repeal the ACA

Update (4/26/17): After our voices were heard and the atrocious ACA repeal bill was blocked, the House of Representatives is at it again. The updated bill now allows states to eliminate essential health benefits, like maternity care, and to deny affordable coverage for people with pre-existing conditions. The bill is worse than before! A vote may come soon. Tell your representative to oppose this latest ACA repeal bill.

House leaders introduced a bill that would repeal key provisions of the Affordable Care Act, defund Planned Parenthood, and gut the Medicaid program. It targets women, people with disabilities, communities of color, low-income individuals and families, and anyone seeking reproductive health care. The bill gravely jeopardizes the health care coverage of millions of people and threatens the well-being of those most in need. And Congress is fast-tracking it – committees have already advanced it without congressional hearings and without official analysis of how many people would lose care if the bill became law.

Repealing the ACA threatens our civil rights and liberties and harms millions of vulnerable people. Take action now – tell your members of Congress to oppose the American Health Care Act, the ACA repeal bill.

Oppose the American Health Care Act. The bill would gut Medicaid to the tune of billions of dollars - harming people with disabilities who rely on Medicaid for essential services. It would block Medicaid patients from seeking care at Planned Parenthood - restricting access to cancer screenings, breast exams, and STI tests and treatments and forcing health centers to close. It would attack women's ability to buy private insurance that covers abortion. Across the board, this bill is an attack on our civil rights and liberties.

I need you, as my representative in Congress, to strongly oppose the ACA repeal bill. The ACA played an important role in ending discriminatory health policies and practices. It made health care coverage fairer and more equitable nationwide. Do not dismantle this law with reckless legislation.
